Meet Everardo Garcia Jr.
He is a Mexican American filmmaker who specializes in Assistant Directing (AD). He also fields in line producing (LP), production assistance (PA), and directing on several indie film projects, including Hot Stuff (2025), Afterparty (2024), and the upcoming directed short film Break-In (2025). In 2025, he recently stepped into studio filmmaking by doing PA work on NBC's Chicago Fire (Season 14). His journey of filmmaking began at Lyons Township Television (LTTV). During his time, he produced, directed, and camera-operated local broadcasting productions, including live sports for the station. He later studied professional filmmaking at the College of DuPage and transferred to Columbia College Chicago, graduating with both an Associate's and a Bachelor's in Film & Television. In both colleges, he collaborated with local filmmakers and crafted his evolving filmmaking skills (AD, LP, PA), one set at a time.
Outside of production, he is a professional film critic and a resolute member of the Chicago Indie Critics. His critic work allows him to critique and analyze other filmmakers’ works and learn how they achieved it, and apply that to his AD and LP work. Beyond filmmaking, Garcia Jr loves photography, bowling, cooking Mexican dishes, and collecting physical media. Garcia Jr is a deeply collaborative and compassionate assistant director filmmaker, ready to take on any challenge and determined to lead an entire production with leadership, resilience, and proficiency.

"My vision of success is when collaboration and communication are effective when done with resilience and compassion." - Everardo Garcia Jr.
